Note on PS2 games in regards to PS3: The original 20GB, 80GB, and 60GB models of the Playstation 3 are fully backwards compatible (work) with all PS2 games, but these aforementioned models are no longer available at retail—only ebay, amazon, etc. The newest (and most available) model, the 40GB PS3 is not backwards compatible with the PS2—however, the most recent (and retail) 80GB version is backwards compatible.
